UPDATE: Cigarette packs up $1.60

The price of a pack of cigarettes will increase by $1.60 and taxes on other tobacco products will increase to 75 percent of their wholesale costs.

The tobacco tax hike is just one of several bills passed by lawmakers Monday night.

State legislators also gave the OK to Gov. Paterson’s latest budget extender bill.
